A Complex Surgery to Save Her Eyes

To give Chikki a chance at a normal life, veterinarians planned a delicate reconstructive procedure.

The surgery lasted nearly five hours.

During the operation, doctors carefully grafted a small piece of skin from Chikki’s lip to create new eyelids. These reconstructed lids would protect her eyes and stop the painful friction that had plagued her since birth.

The procedure was incredibly precise.

Everyone involved hoped it would finally bring relief to the little kitten.

At first, Chikki seemed to be recovering.

But soon, inflammation developed around the surgical area. Part of the eye remained exposed, and it became clear that another operation would be necessary.

So Chikki underwent a second procedure known as H-Plasty, designed to refine and complete the eyelid reconstruction.
