A Cry From the Bottom of the Bin
While taking out the trash, a young woman suddenly heard a faint, desperate cry coming from deep inside a garbage bin. The sound was weak, almost drowned out by the surrounding noise. Startled, she leaned closer and realized the cries were coming from far below, trapped where no one would normally look.
After several tense moments of searching, she managed to reach inside using a long-handled fork, carefully lifting out a tiny kitten. The little one was soaked, filthy, and shaking. His small body clung to the smell and cold of the trash bin, but he was alive.
Bringing Him Home, Despite the Doubt
She took the kitten home immediately. At first, she couldn’t help but complain quietly about the smell and worried about germs and possible illness. Still, she didn’t hesitate to act. She bathed him thoroughly, washing away layers of dirt and grime, then gently dried his fur.

To keep him safe, she set up a temporary nest using a cardboard box in the bathroom. This allowed the kitten to stay warm and isolated from the other cats in the home until his condition could be properly checked.
A Clean Bill of Health — Day 2
On the second day, the kitten was taken for a full health check. To her surprise and relief, the results showed he was completely healthy, with no infectious diseases. She proceeded with deworming and finally gave him a name: Gou Dan, chosen to match the name of another cat already living in the home, Gou Sheng.
From that moment on, Gou Dan was no longer just a rescued kitten.
He had an identity.
A Small Surprise — Day 4

As Gou Dan grew cleaner and more comfortable, the woman noticed something she hadn’t seen before. He wasn’t entirely black, as she originally thought. A white patch on his chest slowly revealed itself.
Gou Dan was a tuxedo cat.
His personality also became clearer. He was energetic, playful, and endlessly curious. He loved toys, explored every corner, and had a habit of gently nibbling his rescuer’s hand during play, as if testing the world with his tiny teeth.
Finding His Place — Day 5
By the fifth day, Gou Dan had fully settled into his new environment. He played happily with toys, grew more confident by the hour, and began interacting with the older cats in the house. What started as cautious observation soon turned into playful chasing and shared curiosity.

The kitten who once cried from the bottom of a trash bin was now moving freely, safely, and without fear.
From Forgotten to Belonging
Gou Dan’s story didn’t begin with comfort or care. It began in darkness, surrounded by waste, with only his voice left to ask for help. But because someone stopped, listened, and reached down, his life changed completely.
Today, Gou Dan is clean, healthy, playful, and loved.
Sometimes, rescue doesn’t look dramatic.
Sometimes, it starts with a faint sound in the most unexpected place — and the decision not to walk away.
