I went outside that day just to pick up a package.
Instead, I found him.
A tiny stray kitten was lying on the side of the road, completely alone. He was stretched out on the ground, motionless. When I stepped closer, he looked up at me and let out a weak meow.
Was he asking for help?
He did not even have the strength to run away.
I asked a little girl nearby if he belonged to her. She shook her head. No one seemed to know where he came from. When I touched him, my heart sank. He was so thin I could feel every bone. So light that when I lifted him, I barely felt any weight at all.
He looked no more than two months old. There were no adult cats around him. He kept meowing at me, as if afraid I might leave.
I could not.
The First Meal
Luckily, I always keep cat treats in my car because I have cats at home. I gave him the last one. He devoured it desperately. He had clearly not eaten in a long time. Before I could even squeeze out more, he tried to chew the plastic wrapper.
VIDEO: From the Side of the Road to a Fight for His Life — A Tiny Kitten’s Battle to Survive
We hesitated for a moment.
We already had many kittens at home.
But if we left him there, he would not survive.
So we brought him home.
He was so skinny he looked like a little mouse sneaking toward the food bowl. We did not have kitten food, so we offered him adult cat food. After eating, he slept for almost an entire day.
When he woke up, he searched for me.
He wanted to be petted.
He ate, then slept again. Slowly, a bit of energy returned. He even played with me for a short while before curling into my arms.
The next morning, we took him to the hospital.
He behaved so well during the examination. He did not struggle.
But the results were not good.
Fever, Inflammation, And Hospitalization
He had a high fever and severe inflammation. His temperature had reached 40 degrees Celsius. He needed hospitalization immediately.
Please get better, I whispered to him after every injection.
His eyes were full of pain.
The doctor performed blood tests and SAA testing. Three days of injections followed. The costs began to rise, but that no longer mattered. All that mattered was that he survived.
After several days, his temperature dropped to 39.2. Still high, but improving.
He started sleeping in my arms.

He looked at me with those soft, pitiful eyes that made my heart ache.
When Things Got Worse
Just when we thought he was improving, he suddenly stopped eating, drinking, even using the litter box. He grew dangerously weak.
The doctor attempted to draw blood but could barely collect any. He was too fragile.
He needed a blood transfusion.
We rushed home to bring our cat Hui Hui, who became his donor. Hui Hui stayed calm in the carrier, like a quiet hero. When he came out, the transfusion had already saved the tiny kitten’s life.
Hui Hui truly became the hero of our family.
After eight long hours, the transfusion was complete.
Our little fighter survived again.
The Painful Treatment
Because FIP was strongly suspected, though not yet fully confirmed, we had to begin treatment with 441 injections. These oil based injections are extremely painful.
I hesitated at first.
I was terrified his tiny body would not handle the pain.
Every time he received the injection, he cried. Sometimes he was too weak even to cry properly. Watching him suffer was almost unbearable.
His small body would tremble. He could not lie on either side comfortably because both sides were sore from injections. He would wander around the house confused, sometimes unable to control urination.
He even developed an eye ulcer. We discovered a corneal lesion and had to begin additional treatments. More tests. More medications. More expenses.
We have spent nearly ten thousand yuan so far.
We are exhausted.
But we cannot stop.
Small Signs of Hope

After many days, he began eating on his own again. His temperature finally returned to normal at 38.8 degrees. He still looked fragile, but he was stronger than before.
He even managed to eat while receiving injections, as if trying to prove how brave he was.
He is smart. Gentle. When we arrive home, he knows to get out of the car and walk inside. Despite everything, he remains sweet.
We have faced death with him more times than I can remember.
But he keeps fighting.
Five Months Later
It has been five months since we found him lying on that roadside.
From a dying, skeletal stray kitten to a survivor who still battles illness with courage.
We hope one day he will be completely healthy, free from pain, and able to live without hospital visits or injections.
He has endured more in his short life than many ever should.
And yet he still trusts.
Thank you for watching his journey. Please do not forget to like, comment, and share your thoughts.
Every kind word gives us strength to continue fighting for this little life.
